Manifesto: Before creating a work of art, create what the work is made of: give the material a shape to activate the gaze.
Subtitle: For an artistic autonomy
The project is based on the principle that each element of the artwork can be created independently, starting from the raw material.
Like a canvas: starting from raw linen, treated with a natural binder of plant origin and, when dry, covered with "gesso".
A living support, handmade from start to finish.
This principle of autonomous creation is applied to everything: support, paint, material.
Residency Research
The residency will be a laboratory of pictorial autonomy, based on two axes of research:
1. Research on self-production: Study and artisanal creation of all the elements of the work, starting from natural raw materials and with full respect for nature.
2. Chromatic research: Creation of an innovative color palette, conceived as a chromatic symphony, where colors, like notes, meet to find a new harmony.
A mixing process in which one color is combined with another to generate new and unique hues, where beauty is understood as emotion, as the individual energy received through observation.
The final work: The Book
The entire research will flow into the creation of a Book.
The Book will gather the palettes created and the process for creating the supports and colors. Each palette will correspond to a different energy of observation.
The future goal of the Book is to become an open and useful tool for all artists, with any painting technique. A chromatic and energetic atlas and a manual for autonomy that teaches how to create one's own material.
